It is with deep sorrow that Islamic Society of Markham expresses our most sincere condolences to everyone affected by the barbaric attacks on the two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. It has been reported that this gruesome act of terror was perpetuated by a white supremist who purportedly killed 50 people and injured numerous more.
Our hearts weep, at the thought of the innocent victims who were brutally murdered when all they were doing was worshiping peacefully in the sanctuary of their mosque. Islamophobia or any other kind of hatred based on prejudice is to be condemned and eradicated.
We would like to thank the York Region Police and parliament members who have approached the Muslim community with their words of kindness and solace. We look forward to continuing working in peace and solidarity with you all to make our community a better place for all.
