Job Opportunity: Community Service Worker (Summer 2025)

The Islamic Society of Markham (ISM) is pleased to announce openings for the Community Service Worker position under our Summer Internship Program, funded by the Federal Government of Canada.
This is an exciting opportunity for post-secondary youth (up to 29 years of age) to gain meaningful work experience in community service, administration, and operations.

Position Details

Position: Community Service Worker

Duration: 8 weeks (30 hours per week)

Wage: $17.20/hour

Start Date: Monday, June 30, 2025

Work Schedule: 6 days per week (includes weekend)

Key Responsibilities

• – Assist with data entry and basic IT tasks
• – Conduct online searches and assist with research
• – Help with participant registration and schedule assignments
• – Ensure participant compliance with program guidelines
• – Organize and manage delivered packages and supplies
• – Digitize physical records and manage the Masjid’s digital database with regular backups
• – Support day-to-day operations and administrative tasks
• – Supervise and assist with summer camp activities, including recreational and group programs
• – Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Operations Coordinator, Office Administrator, or General Manager

Eligibility & Requirements

• – Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• – Enrolled in a post-secondary program (College/University – GTA preferred)
• – Minimum 18 years of age
• – Must be available to work 30 hours/week for 8 consecutive weeks with no time off
• – Able to work 6 days/week, including weekend daytime shifts
• – Able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check upon hiring
• – Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
• – Previous work or volunteer experience is an asset
