ISM official launch of the Anti-Racism Action Program (ARAP)

Dear Brothers & Sisters … Assalamu Alaikum,

The Islamic Society of Markham, in partnership with the Islamic Centre of Markham and the Government of Canada, is excited to announce the official launch of the Anti-Racism Action Program (ARAP).

ARAP is designed to reduce barriers for the Muslim community, while focusing on enhancing positive relationships between youth and the criminal justice system, increasing social participation of the community, and reducing employment barriers due to Islamophobia and racism. This project is the first of its kind and is a critical component to advance the Ummah and foster strong, respectful relationships in the diverse region of the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

Through the ARAP, we aim to build bridges of understanding between various faiths, reduce discriminatory business practices and provide resources to address the troubling rates of violence, gang involvement and drug-use by Muslim youth reported in our communities.

The program consists of four major components:
1) *Youth Justice Intervention Program*
2) *Business Course*
3) *Monthly Web Series*
4) *Interfaith Events*

We encourage your participation and support by attending these workshops and encouraging your friends and family, especially youth, to join.
Please visit to register for the programs and feel free to contact us for any questions or if you require more information via email at [email protected].
